Authentic Gemstones Last a Lifetime
Let’s talk gemstones, there are so many kinds of gemstones, and some people still refer to gemstones as precious or semi-precious although many gemologists don't like to refer to them in that way because that would reduce the value in gemstones in general. Some semi-precious are more expensive per carat then precious gemstones. So more and more, that practice is being eliminated.
Natural Gemstones
Traditionally, the top four precious gemstones are considered diamonds, emeralds, rubies, and sapphires, and there are many more. While others, would fall into semi-precious gemstones, such as Beryl (Aquamarine, Morganite, Green Beryl, and Heliodor), Apatite, Amethyst, Azurite, Citrine, and Tanzanite just to name a few. Currently, there are over 200 gemstones in the world. So many to choose from, its hard to select a favorite.
Remember, like diamonds, gemstones last a lifetime. They can be handed down to your family or your friends.
Lab-Created Gemstones
Lab-created gemstones are chemically, optically and physically identical to earth mined gemstones. Lab-created gemstones are not considered natural. Lab-created stones can be up to a 1/3 of the price of a earth mined gemstone.
I have long been a lover of natural gemstones. As mentioned in my previous blog post, I bought my first pair of 18K gold Citrine earrings when I was 28, although my Dad had made me a pair of blue topaz earrings, and a black tourmaline necklace.
Now, I'm grateful for the opportunity to purchase all kinds of high-quality gemstones through my ethically-sourced gemstone providers. Why is this important? Don't we all want to get paid fairly for what we do? Of course, the answer is yes. Ethically-sourced gemstones mean that miners are paid a fair wage for mining the gemstones. That means a lot to me and is a cornerstone of my business.
Currently, my focus is on Natural Gemstones, from Mother Earth. I make handcrafted jewelry and I love that I know where the stones are sourced and I know the process of how gemstones are made which I will talking about in my next gemstone blog article. I promise you will be amazed. I also make each piece by hand and I guarantee my workmanship of each piece. I don’t make mass produced jewelry pieces; I make one-of-a-kind pieces in addition to my custom designed pieces.
